Hola, L.A. |
In April of 2009, after living in NYC for 6 years pursuing acting and other dreams, I moved to LA. In the last year I got married, got pregnant (well, not in that order) and have learned to drive all over LA without letting it drive me crazy. This is where I write about changing cities but not final destinations. |
On our first major holiday in LA, we checked out the Hollywood Farmer’s Market (HIPPY!), visited Baby Mairead Ann at the Long Beach Memorial Hospital (SWEETIE!), headed down to Huntington Beach for some pier-walking (WINDY!), headed back up to Venice for an Easter Cantata (JESUS-Y!) and capped it off with a 30-head late night dinner at Denny’s of Culver City (GREASY!). All in all, a very nice LA Easter.
Yesterday, went to morning free yoga in the park and it was sunny, so: paradise! Worked on various stuff that needed working on, discovered over and over again that LA customer service actually involves serving the customer, as opposed to NYC customer service which resides somewhere between abuse and assault. Here’s an example, CVS overcharged me by about $24 on a routine drugstore visit. I returned to store with only the receipt and explained the items that I was charged for but didn’t purchase…AND THEY GAVE ME MY MONEY BACK! WHAT!!!$#$@@!?
I visited Target (just as cheap and awesome here as anywhere) and tried to get an oil change but arrived just before closing time, no dice.
Came home and spent the rest of the night geeking out while Aaron Procrastinauta did his ‘08 taxes. :)
Today is Tuesday and tomorrow I have my first meeting with the LA branch of my commercial agency so, naturally, I got a facial, from which I am swollen and bruised. Who the hell decided microdermabrasion was a good idea for your face? Hopefully the wounds will heal by tomorrow.
I have an acting class tonight for which I am slightly nervous, not sure why. I guess it feels like I’m really playing for keeps now that I really live here.
