Hola, L.A. |
In April of 2009, after living in NYC for 6 years pursuing acting and other dreams, I moved to LA. In the last year I got married, got pregnant (well, not in that order) and have learned to drive all over LA without letting it drive me crazy. This is where I write about changing cities but not final destinations. |
While we were hanging out with Christina, Martin and Molly, their landlady came over to check out some repairs Martin was doing on the place. She asked Christina how she was holding up at nearly 41 weeks and Christina said, “get this baby out of me!”. The landlady said, “Basil. The Italians say basil induces labor.” We were extremely skeptical about the inducement properties of basil (isn’t basil in just about everything, these days?) but we ordered extremely basil-y food for dinner despite ourselves.
The next day, around 6pm, Christina texted to say she was in labor, 10 days before her scheduled C-section.
She gave birth to Mairead Ann (pron. Mar-ade) at 8:30pm, April 10th, who was a healthy 7.5lbs and 19 inches long!
Basil. Basil induces labor. :)
